The Destiny Inscription system is Sephiria's meta-progression — the upgrades you keep between runs. After each run, you earn Sapphire gems that you can spend on permanent unlocks. Getting the right unlocks in the right order dramatically improves your runs.
How Destiny Inscriptions Work
After each run (win or lose), you earn Sapphire gems based on how far you progressed and how many enemies you defeated. These gems are spent at the Destiny Inscription menu in town. Once purchased, inscriptions are permanent — they apply to every subsequent run.
Best Unlock Order (Priority List)
Here's the recommended purchase order, from most to least important:
| Priority | Inscription | Cost | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Home Repair | 50 | Unlocks the Talent system entirely. Without this, you can't use Fate Sigils. |
| 2 | Talent Points ×3 | 30 each | Start each run with 3 talent points. Huge early-game power spike. |
| 3 | Riley's Gift | 40 | Start each run with a free potion. Saves gold early for artifact purchases. |
| 4 | Heavy Weapon Training | 60 | Unlocks the Greatsword. Required for heavy weapon builds. |
| 5 | Extra Artifact Slot | 80 | One more artifact slot = more grid space = more combos. |
| 6 | Potion Effectiveness +20% | 50 | Potions heal more. Survivability boost for mid-game. |
| 7 | Dash Cooldown -10% | 70 | More dashes = more invincibility frames = better dodging. |
| 8 | Starting Gold +100 | 40 | Buy a better weapon or artifact at the first shop. |
| 9 | Revive Cost -20% | 60 | Cheaper revives in co-op. Essential for multiplayer. |
| 10 | Crit Damage +15% | 90 | Late-game damage boost when you have good crit chance. |
Sapphire Gem Farming
To unlock everything quickly, you want to maximize Sapphire gem income per run:
- Reach later chapters — gems scale with stage depth. Chapter 4+ gives significantly more than Chapter 1.
- Kill more enemies — each enemy has a small gem drop chance. AoE weapons like Staff clear fast.
- Don't skip shops — some shop items give bonus Sapphire when purchased.
- Co-op runs — 4-player runs give a 1.5x gem multiplier.
- Hard Mode bonus — Hard Mode runs give 2x gems but are much harder.
What NOT to Unlock First
- Crit Damage +15% — Only good when you already have high crit chance from artifacts.
- Extra Potion Slot — Riley's Gift is better value for early survival.
- Elemental Resistance — Too situational; most deaths come from burst damage, not DoT.
Talent System Unlock
Once you purchase Home Repair, the Talent system unlocks. This is where Fate Sigils come in. You'll start each run with talent points that can be spent on temporary upgrades. Check our Talent Tree Paths Guide for build-specific recommendations.
